Just recently, Barbie launched a new collection of dolls – dolls wear streetwear inspired style and looks, and one of the dolls even has baby hair! The doll caught the attention of fans and lauded the company for highlighting an inclusive style.
The new dolls are part of Barbie’s BMR1959 line, which stands for Barbara Millicent Roberts, Barbie’s full name, and the year when the doll was first introduced. Last January, Barbie started to become inclusive when it featured dolls with vitiligo and prosthetic limbs.
According to Barbie, the BMR Collection is ‘meant to celebrate the fashion heritage of Barbie’.
“These bold, fully posable dolls capture the diverse looks found in today’s streetwear culture. From high-low fashion mixes, re-imagined ’90s gear to juxtaposed patterns, textures, and silhouettes, this curated ensemble is all about personal expression and style,” excerpts from the BMR1959 Collection description.
